Vancouver Island Chapter of The Surfrider Foundation "Hold On To Your Butt" Our centre is delighted to offer our support with this important campaign. Cigarette butts are found littering streets, sidewalks and public spaces. These butts not only pose a waste management challenge for local governments financially and logistically, they also can find there way to the marine environment, as run off in storm drains. In the marine environment , they pose a threat marine life and a health and safety risk to individuals. To date over 4000 butts have been disposed of in the ashtray attached to our gazebo. Please encourage others to dispose of their butts in the receptacle as well. Help keep our Oceans clean! We have a new Book Box outside! Please feel free to take a book and add to your collection at home. If you have a book you would like to donate, please just add it to our box to share with your community.
If you're out and about enjoying this lovely weather, stop by the centre to see our freshly wrapped van! Our logo is now on! The perforated vinyl allows passengers to see out, all while letting others on the road see our logos.
