ACTIVE SENIORS ENJOYING LIFE (ASEL) Will be returning!

A chair exercise routine will be shown on the big screen in the Main Hall.  A.S.E.L. will be offered Tuesday & Thursday mornings, as well as; Friday afternoons.  The maximum number of participants will be 15/day.  At first,  we will limit it to once a week per individual.  Should the response not be favourable, we will review. 
  • Drop-in fee will be $2 which is to be paid the day of participation.
  • Members will be able to pre-register either in person or by phone.
  • Equipment will be sanitized after each session, however we will encourage Members to supply their own if at all possible

LINE DANCING

Would you like to dance, but don't have a partner? No problem! Line Dancing is a pattern of steps done over and over again throughout the course of a song which individuals can do WITHOUT a partner.   We'll dance to country music PLUS other types.  All the steps will be thoroughly explained. You'll develop your inner dancer, gain confidence, & make lifelong friendships in a safe & personal environment. Wear smooth-soled shoes; no experience necessary.

Postural stretching

This class is ideal for people feeling stiff, and suffering with chronic aches and pains. Marie-Pierre focuses on strengthening key postural muscles while stretching all the main muscle groups. Stretch improves joint range of movement and muscle flexibility through a structured series of dynamic and static stretching. This program works on creating a sense of freedom in the body reducing muscle tightness and restriction. Sessions will end with meditation using imagery. Basic equipment supplied. 
Fridays 10:30-11:30 AM.

Sitting in silence

Sitting in Silence and allowing the thoughts of the day to just be, they gradually melt away as the attention moves inward. Coming together as a community in the space of silence allows the work of meditation to deepen personally and collectively. 
Silent Sitting is an “inner shower”, as the energetic bodies of the individual and the community are cleared and freshened, making it possible to return to the essence within.  It is as essential for individuals refresh daily through meditation.
Chairs will be available. Bring your cushion if you wish; there are mats for the floor.

WALKING GROU​P

This is a group of individuals who like to get out in the company of others and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. All walks are held around Greater Victoria and vary from week to week. The terrain may be hilly, and participants should wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Walks can vary in length as we go at a comfortable (not strolling) pace. We meet at the Centre for a briefing and use public transit when necessary. No pre-registration is required, just show up! We are always looking for eager members to walk with us, so come out and give us a try!

DanceSoQi

This new dance/movement course is designed and taught  by Isabel Arias Santos. Isabel is from Cuba and has years of experience as an athlete and Dance instructor.  DanceSoQi comes from the words Dance,  So from Somatic yoga and Clinical somatic movements and Qi, pronounced “Chi”, from Qi Gong. The three of them complement each other.
The goal of this course is for people of all ages and different physical levels to enjoy dance and movement without pain. Somatic, is a neurological workout that will help people feel free of pain. All of them, Dance, Qi Gong and Somatic Yoga have the same goal: move our body gently and connect body and mind.  It is a Union of the amazing movements all together.
