ACTIVE SENIORS ENJOYING LIFE

Join Becky as she coaches this group of active seniors in low-impact chair exercises -– an excellent way of keeping fit. Becky provides an exceptional program which anyone at any level may join. You participate at your own tempo while following an instructional workout.
After the training you are invited to stay and take part in various activities and games. This service is provided in partnership with Beckley Farm Lodge. 
TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS 10:00 am - 11:00 AM. 
Members $2.00  (
Membership required to participate). 

Ageless YOGA

RESTORATIVE YOGA
Pranayama, or breath class.   Restorative, calming poses first, to build breath control. Beginner level only. 
MONDAYS  1:00 – 2:00 PM

CARPET BOWLING

Carpet Bowling is challenging and competitive.  This activity is similar to lawn bowling; the object of the game is to put your bowl as close as possible to the “jack.”  Participants laugh a lot during this game, have lots of fun, and the exercise they get is a bonus.

CHI GONG   ‘Standing Like a Tree’

with Murray Reid 
It is considered to be the most powerful of all the tai chi and qigong postures, and is often used as a separate exercise to increase leg strength, concentration, deep breathing and chi flow.
“Standing Like a Tree” is practiced in well-balanced standing positions which increase the flow of energy and build up internal strength. This system is based on a unique combination
of exertion and relaxation which stimulates, cleanses and internally massages the whole organism.
Mondays and Thursdays 9:30– 10:30 am

LINE DANCING

Love to dance, but lack a partner? 
Line dance is perfect way to introduce yourself to the world of dance, teach your feet something new and have fun while working off a few calories!
July - December

Postural stretching

This class is ideal for people feeling stiff, and suffering with chronic aches and pains. Marie-Pierre focuses on strengthening key postural muscles while stretching all the main muscle groups. Stretch improves joint range of movement and muscle flexibility through a structured series of dynamic and static stretching. This program works on creating a sense of freedom in the body reducing muscle tightness and restriction. Sessions will end with meditation using imagery. Basic equipment supplied. 
Fridays 10:30-11:30 AM.

SCOTTISH COUNTRY DANCE

Are you interested in learning reels, jigs, hornpipes, novelty and old time dances?  Dances are always walked through as well as, briefed before each dance to aid in memory and alleviate worry.
All levels welcome. 
Beginners are especially encouraged.

Sitting in silence

Sitting in Silence and allowing the thoughts of the day to just be, they gradually melt away as the attention moves inward. Coming together as a community in the space of silence allows the work of meditation to deepen personally and collectively. 
Silent Sitting is an “inner shower”, as the energetic bodies of the individual and the community are cleared and freshened, making it possible to return to the essence within.  It is as essential for individuals refresh daily through meditation.
Chairs will be available. Bring your cushion if you wish; there are mats for the floor.

WALKING GROU​P

This is a group of individuals who like to get out in the company of others and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. All walks are held around Greater Victoria and vary from week to week. The terrain may be hilly, and participants should wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Walks can vary in length as we go at a comfortable (not strolling) pace. We meet at the Centre for a briefing and use public transit when necessary. No pre-registration is required, just show up! We are always looking for eager members to walk with us, so come out and give us a try!
MONDAYS 10:00 AM. 


ZUMBA GOLD

Modified moves and pacing to suit the needs of the active older adult, or those just starting a journey to a fit and healthy life.  The class is based on the principal that a workout should be fun and easy to do.  If you like to move and dance you will love Zumba Gold!

50 PLUS STRENGTH AND STRETCH 

Learn how to strengthen your muscles safely and effectively with a variety of strength training equipment.  This program will help you look better, feel better and improve flexibility and strength.  Basic equipment supplied.
